The Prince Albert Police Service have confirmed the identity of the deceased person they discovered during a search, as 14-year-old Peyton Flett, following the results of an autopsy conducted on Tuesday.
In a police press conference on Aug. 12, police said Peyton Flett was reported missing on June 30.
On Aug. 13, police said they discovered a deceased individual at the 300 block of 40th Street East during a search in relation to Peyton’s disappearance.
An autopsy was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 18, where officials confirmed the identity of Peyton Flett, and the family has been notified of the autopsy results.
In a statement, the Prince Albert Police Service “extends its condolences to Peyton’s family, friends, and all those affected by her death,” and are continuing to investigate the circumstances around Peyton’s death.
A vigil organized by her mother, Danica Moore, and Food for a Smile will be held at the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Monument near the riverbank at 7 p.m on Peyton’s birthday, Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Those attending are encouraged to bring purple plushies and candles.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding Peyton’s disappearance or circumstances surrounding her death to contact the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
In a press conference on Aug. 12, Moore said the family is distraught by her disappearance.
“We love you more than life itself. We miss you so much it hurts to breathe,” she said.
