A 26-year-old man faces multiple charges following a Prince Albert Police Service investigation into a series of break-ins at a local firearms business on the 100 block of 14th Street East.
Officers arrested the man in the early morning hours of July 4. The man is charged with two counts of breaking and entering with the intent to steal firearms, possession of restricted firearms for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of non-restricted firearms for the purpose of trafficking, among other charges.
Officers were first called to the business on June 25 following reports of an attempted break-and-enter. They arrived to find someone had attempted to gain access to the business at some point over the past two nights.
Police were called back following reports of another attempted break-and-enter on June 27. A police Canine Unit swept the building, but no suspects were located inside, and there was no evidence anyone gained access.
Officers were called to the business a third time on Canada Day at around 4 a.m. following reports of another break-and-enter where a suspect allegedly fled with multiple firearm scopes. The Canine Unit attended the scene but was unable to track down a suspect.
Police were called to the area again at around 2:30 a.m. on July 4 following reports of another break-and-enter. Officers arrived on scene and found a man, who was arrested without further incident.
Officers cleared the building, and discovered a stash of firearms, ammunition, CO2 firearms, and an assortment of attachments.
The National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST) assisted in this investigation.
