Dignitaries from across the north gathered in La Ronge for the annual Men’s Gala hosted by the Piwapan Women’s Centre on Oct. 17.
Former MLA, Doyle Vermette, offered the opening remarks and prayer for the evening; he was also a recipient of an award under the Leader/Mentor category. Iron eagle Drummers offered an Opening Drum song to set the evening off to a good start.
Following dinner, the award presentations began with a special mention for Cameron McDougald.
McDougald “was assisted by Children North as a youth and has made us all proud by now becoming an employee,” nominator, Jerry O’Connor wrote.
McDougald received an award under the Leader/Mentor category.
“Cameron is a young man that works alongside our mentors and helps to train our therapy dogs,” O’Connor further wrote.
“Cameron comes in with lots of energy, excitement and the most positive attitude around. He lights up the office and is a breath of fresh air to all he interacts with. Children North wants to recognize his hard work and everything Cameron does to make us feel so lucky to have him as part of our team.
