An 8-year-old boy was taken to hospital in good and stable condition after being hit by a vehicle over the weekend.
The incident occurred at the corner of Sixth Avenue East and Branion Drive at 4:27 p.m. on Sunday. Paramedics from Parkland Ambulance arrived on the scene to find the boy injured. They provided care and transported him to hospital.
The collision was one of 129 incidents paramedics dealt with on Saturday and Sunday. They were also called to Sturgeon Lake First Nation after a motor vehicle collision at around 4 p.m. Saturday. A 21-year-old woman was cared for and taken to hospital in good and stable condition.
Parkland Ambulance also responded to several accidents involving pedal bikes, including one involving a six-year-old in the West Flat. Paramedics say the injury was minor, but still shows how important it is to wear proper protection when biking—especially a helmet.
