The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) made two arrests following a traffic stop in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
At approximately 3:30 a.m., members of PAPS made a vehicle stop ata a business at the 2700 block of 15th Ave E. It was suspected the driver had outstanding warrants for their arrest.
After police activated emergency equipment, the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee and made contact with multiple police vehicles and the building. A male and female exited the back seat of the vehicle and fled on foot. Remaining in the vehicle and taken into custody was the 40-year-old male driver and a 28-year-old female passenger. Investigation also revealed that the vehicle had been stolen earlier that night and had not yet been reported.
The 40-year-old male driver was found to have outstandings warrants for firearms offences and was on release orders including a curfew. He is now also charged with Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Mischief over $5000, Assaulting a Police Officer, Possession of Property Obtained by Cime and Failure to comply with a release order. He made his first appeareance at Prince Albert Provincial Court on Wednesday.
