The Prince Albert Police Service Major Crimes Unit has identified the city’s fourth homicide victim as 36-year-old Lyle Ballantyne.
Ballantyne’s body was found in the 500 Block of 39th Street West on Thursday morning. His next of kin have been notified.
Police have arrested and charged a 56-year-old man with second degree murder in relation to the case. His first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
Officers were called the scene at around 8:50 a.m. on Thursday following reports of a suspicious person. Officers then received another report that someone had potentially found a deceased individual.
They identified the victim when they arrived on scene. The Prince Albert Police Service Forensic Identification Section (FIS), Prince Albert RCMP FIS, and Saskatchewan Coroners Service were also called in to attend the scene.
