A pair of people have been arrested after being found in possession of a modified paintball gun.
According to RCMP on July 20, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team (CRT) attended a residence on 2nd Street in Meadow Lake in relation to an ongoing investigation. Officers located a female wanted on a warrant exiting a vehicle outside of the residence and arrested her. She initially provided a false name to officers.
A male with her tried to prevent police from approaching the vehicle.
Police took him into custody, then located what appeared to be a paintball gun and ammunition inside the vehicle.
Further investigation determined the paintball gun had been illegally modified to discharge bullets.
As a result of continued investigation, 27-year-old Courtney Bill and 29-year-old Billy Whitehead, both from Pelican Lake First Nation, are each charged with one count, possession of a prohibited firearm, one count, unlawfully transport firearm, and one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Bill is also charged with one count, obstruct police. She was also arrested on a warrant from Spiritwood RCMP for failing to attend court.
Whitehead is also charged with three counts, possession of a firearm/weapon contrary to order and three counts, fail to comply with probation order.
Both accused appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on July 22.
