Prince Albert Collegiate Institute is holding a grand opening and coffee house Thursday night at 7 p.m. to introduce the public to its brand new fitness centre and music studio. Students will provide musical entertainment for the free event.

The new facilities were brought in thanks to fundraising efforts of alumni.

“it’s all brand new stuff, brand new recording equipment. It’s pretty amazing what our alumni have done,” said PACI drama teacher Ryan Hughes.

‘We had a coffee house last year commemorating the grand opening of our new arts studio. We wanted to have another coffee house this year to celebrate the people involved in making it happen, as well as showcasing some of the talents that will be using those facilities.”

That talent includes singers, musicians and an improv troupe.

“It’s a pretty cool night of showing off PACI and the things we can offer.”

If that doesn’t get people interested, Hughes is hoping the prospect of free food will. The school and a local coffee shop have teamed up to bring in coffee, dainties, juice and other treats.

But for Hughes, the real highlight is the brand new facility.

“It’s high quality,” Hughes said of the recording studio. “Some of the best stuff in the province is down there. We want to show what our alumni have done for us.”

The event is open to the general public, Hughes is hoping they come, stay for awhile, and enjoy all the facilities and entertainment.

“It’s kind of a nice little gala for us to show off our two new rooms, as well as the talent that’s here at PACI,” he said.

“It’s open to the public. We want to showcase this to everybody, to show people what PACI has to offer. We’re a historical school, but we’re as modern as can be with everything we can provide.”
