The venue was Smitty’s in Southern Mall, the time was 7-10 a.m. and the event was the TeleMiracle Pancake Breakfast organised by two partners – the Kinsmen Club of Prince Albert and Smitty’s to raise funds for the TeleMiracle 50th Anniversary Celebration.
“This year’s fundraiser figure is a pleasant surprise, we know the community always come out to support TeleMiracle, and the Kinsmen and Kinnette work hard every year to make the best that we can for TeleMiracle,” President Kinsmen Club of Prince Albert President Wes Moore said.
At the end of the Pancake Breakfast, the people left with filled stomach while the club raised the sum of $4,395 for the TeleMiracle 50th Anniversary celebration, which happens to be the highest in the last four or five years.
“It’s a more intense event because of the milestone year,” Moore said. “Being 50 (the 50th anniversary), everybody is trying harder and putting in a little more effort to make that celebration something that is so memorable.”
Moore added that they couldn’t have done the event without their local partners.
“We have great partnership with the Smitty’s,” he said. “They provided us with the location, the pancakes and sausages and do the cooking for us. They help make this possible and we greatly appreciate what they do for us.
“Community partners are critical and wonderful in any of the service group workings. We are always very appreciative of the Prince Albert community, all the people that came, the people that give.
“I just want to say a big thank you to Mark Walters and the Smitty’s staff for their support and contribution. We couldn’t have achieved this without them this morning,” Moore added.
He said they hold the pancake breakfast every year alongside other fund raisers because “the need is so great in the province and the foundation work very very had to maximise the benefits and meet as many of the requests as they possible can.”
About 65 people attended the TeleMiracle Pancake Breakfast, while a crew of six kinsmen served the delicious pancakes and sausages expertly prepared by Smitty’s.
The 50th Anniversary event will begin tomorrow in Saskatoon. Donations are welcome anytime through the TeleMiracle website.
