The Saskatchewan Arts Board (SAB) awarded local band, The Wolfe, $10,000 “to go on tour to promote their newest EP, Strange Words, to both Western and Eastern Canadian fans, media and industry professionals,” according a press release.
“As a band, we really rely on community support and we always have,” said front woman Siobhan Bayda. “It’s awesome they saw something in the project that we wanted to do with our touring and the release of our newest EP.”
After releasing their second EP Strange Words, the band landed a spot on the last ever Vans Warped Tour, playing in Toronto to thousands of people.
Bayda said performing at Warped Tour was “a dream” for the band, another check off their bucket list.
As for the money, Bayda said, “It helps us put gas in our car, it helps us find a place to sleep at night and get some food in our bellies and let’s us chase our dream while we’re out on the road.”
For their summer tour, the band will be playing all over Saskatchewan. Their Prince Albert show is at the Rock Trout Cafe on August 23. They’re also performing at Waskesiu’s Lakeside Music Festival on August 26 and at the inaugural Pretty in Punk Music Festival at the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club on Sept. 1.
After tour, the girls will be working on a third EP.
