Prince Albert police made one arrest and seized a firearm and multiple illicit substances while responding to a welfare call Sunday morning.
Offers were called to an alley in the 2220 block of Second Avenue West at around 8:50 a.m. following reports that a person appeared to be unconscious in their vehicle.
According to a Prince Albert Police Service press release, the officers arrived to find a man in a vehicle. They also discovered a collapsible baton after opening the driver side door.
Investigators later learned the man was prohibited from driving a motor vehicle in Canada.
The officers arrested the man for possession of a weapon. During the arrest, they discovered and seized a handgun from his person. They also seized 18.6 grams of crack cocaine, 13.6 grams of psilocybin, and $2,960 in cash after searching the vehicle.
Police have charged a 40-year-old man with possession of a weapon, careless use of a firearm, concealing a weapon, possession of a firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime.
The man made his first court appearance Monday morning.
