The families in Prince Albert and area will be given the unique opportunity to come together with their children from ages 0 to 8 on Saturday from 10a.m. to 1p.m. at the Prince Albert Early Years Family Resource Centre, located in the Gateway Mall to take part in the Nourish to Flourish Family Festival.

“The Nourish to Festival is about giving the families in our community the tools to have knowledge  for healthy food choices,” said Colleen Moody, a Coordinator and Program Designer with the PA Early Years Family Resource Centre. “It will also be a chance for families  to speak with the dietician regarding questions for early years nutrition and what the kids should be eating.”

Colleen Moody co-coordinates the Nourish to Flourish Family Festival with Barb Hunter, another Program Designer with the PA Early Years Resource Centre.

Aside from interacting with the dietician on children’s nutrition, the festival will afford the families the opportunity to play, learn and interrelate with other members of the community.

“It also presents a fun interactive space for our kids to learn and play,” Colleen added. “It’s going to be a fun event where kids and their families can get involved and learn at the same time.”

In addition there will be some crafts for the kids to carry out like working in toy construction sites with construction photographs and equipment.

“Also there will be a potato relay, there will be a frying and tasting of new foods and they will say whether they like it or not, ” She said. “There will be a variety of different spices  for them to perceive and say where they are from in the different parts of the world.”

The Festival will also have different resources and boxes for the families to take home.

The month of March has been designated as the Nutrition Month and the Centre has put up these wonderful opportunities for families to learn and interact during the Festival.

“Please come, If you are a family in PA and you have young children please come, it’s free. Everyone is welcome, we will love to see here,” Moody concluded.

The Centre will also be hosting the Teddy Bear Clinic in partnership with the Nursing Students from the University of Saskatchewan on Mar. 18 from 10a.m. to 2p.m.at the Centre.
