La Ronge artist Jade Roberts took inspiration from her young song when coming up for a name for her most recent exhibit.
The vibrant and delicate works of art exhibit is dedicated to Roberts’ son, Zuri, as a celebration of his journey into “toddlerhood.”
“The title “Byou” was chosen because this is the way my 18-month-old son, Zuri, pronounces the word ‘Bird,’” Roberts wrote in her description of the exhibit in the community gallery at the Marker 47 Bistro in La Ronge.
“As I was finalizing these paintings, Zuri would point and yell ‘byou” while clapping, so I know I wanted to dedicate these pieces to him and commemorate this stage of toddlerhood that we are experiencing,” she added.
“The excitement and joy he experiences every time he notices a bird makes me both laugh and remember to appreciate the little things.”
The collection makes up the September exhibit at Marker 47, in the Gallery created and organized by the Pixel&20 Paces collective.
