The Prince Albert Northern Bears will begin their 2018-19 Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League season on home ice.

The league released the schedule for the upcoming campaign last week, with the Bears kicking things off with a pair of games at the Art Hauser Centre on Sept. 29 and 30 against the Weyburn Gold Wings.

After those contests, the Bears will be on the road until Nov. 24 and 25 when they’ll host the Swift Current Wildcats.

They’ll conclude their regular season campaign on Feb. 15 and 16 against the Regina Rebels at the Kinsmen Arena.

The Bears finished second in the standings last year with a 22-5-1 record and lost in the league final to the Saskatoon Stars.

Meanwhile, former Bears forward and Prince Albert product Kaitlin Willoughby has been named to the U-Sports All-Stars roster for Hockey Canada’s Summer Showcase event in Calgary next month.

Willoughby, who had 19 points with the Saskatchewan Huskies last season, will play a pair of games against the Canadian National Women’s Development Team and two contests against Japan’s national program.

She also took part in the event last year.
