Nipawin RCMP investigating fatal collision

A Prince Albert woman is deceased following a fatal collision near Smeaton. 

On Mar. 10 at around 8:30 a.m., Nipawin RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway #106, approximately 40 kilometres north of Smeaton. 

Officers responded immediately, along with local fire, EMS, and STARS. Investigation determined an SUV and tractor-trailer unit collided. A passenger in the SUV was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. She has been identified as a 36-year-old woman from Prince Albert. Her family has been notified. 

A second passenger in the SUV was taken to hospital by STARS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature. The driver and a third passenger in the SUV were taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening. 

The driver of the tractor-trailer unit did not report physical injuries to police. 

Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist. 

Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers with the Provincial Protective Services Branch assisted in the response to the collision.
