
The Lac La Ronge Indian Band (LLRIB) hosted their annual New Year’s Gala at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre (JRMCC) providing entertainment, food and fun to bring in the New Year 2025.
Filled to capacity, people mingled to visit before being served a full-course roast beef supper, provided by Cravings Late Night Food.
Early in the Evening Chief Tammy Cook-Searson announced the Rivers North Ranch folks would not be coming this year due to the death in the family.

Participants young and a bit older celebrated New Year’s Eve at the JRMCC.
They have come other years and provided horse and wagon rides throughout the evening.
They did attempt to gather snowmobiles and wagons to fill in, but it was too cold a night, so they decided to continue with games of chance, which included giving away a 72” television. Dancing, which included jigging and Freeze Dance competitions, included participants of all ages, from very young to a bit older. The activities continued inside until 11:50: when everything shut down and folks went outside to watch the fireworks at midnight to bring in the New Year 2025.

The evening was filled with games and dancing, including jigging competitions for different age groups.
The Northern Village of Air Ronge celebrated the New Year with fireworks and hot chocolate earlier in the evening. Ile-a-la Crosse celebrated with a Fish Fry and Fireworks. Stanley Mission held a New Year’s Dance. Montreal Lake Cree Nation (MLCN) celebrated New Year’s with a Volleyball Tournament, Texas Hold em and Bingo events. The Northern Settlement of Sandy Bay celebrated with a Fireworks show, which included a tribute to Late Community Members, Gary Bear and Ovide Morin.
