The North Central Health Care Foundation (NCHCF) recently announced the receipt of a generous monetary donation from Consolation Housing Inc.
The NCHCF said that the contribution that will have a lasting impact on local health care services and the community.
Sarah Taylor the Executive Director of North Central Health Care Foundation explained that the donation will be put to excellent use by the Foundation.
“This is a very substantial donation that North Central Health Care Foundation can use to benefit our community through new health care initiatives and equipment. And I have to emphasize that this donation will be used to purchase equipment,”
Consolation Housing is the organization which controlled Consolation Manor in Melfort until the recent sale of the building. NCHCF would not disclose the amount of the donation but would only state that it was extremely generous.
Like the Dancing with the Stars fundraiser in late 2025 this donation will also go to purchase equipment for the Melfort Hospital. Taylor explained that equipment is always a need for the organization’s fundraising initiatives.
“Equipment is always a need and it is not always funded through Saskatchewan Health Authority,”Taylor said. “So North Central Healthcare Foundation can really help provide services in our community by purchasing this equipment that couldn’t otherwise be purchased.”
She said that it was great that Consolation Housing wanted to support equipment.
“It was extremely generous of them, and I feel such a fine example of being a strong community partner and seeing the need and the impact it will have on the community.” Taylor added.
In a release NCHCF said that the donation will be directed toward priority health care needs within the region, helping to enhance patient care, support health care professionals and ensure that vital services continue to meet the needs of the community.
She said that this is necessary because the Saskatchewan Health Authority does not fund all equipment and thus it is up to organizations like NCHCF to step up.
“I really feel like this is a good opportunity to emphasize that unfortunately our facilities don’t receive adequate government funding and sometimes not even for the maintenance of equipment, let alone any progressive enhancements,” Taylor said.
“So this is where North Central Health Care Foundation can step in and purchase equipment and improve the quality of health care in our community,” she explained.
Taylor explained that she does not think that people realize that donations are significant because the SHA does not fund everything that goes into a hospital.
She said that donations such as the one from Consolation Housing do so much to enhances hospitals and healthcare immensely.
In a release NCHF said that through this contribution, Consolation Housing is playing an important role in advancing the Foundation’s mission to enhance healthcare across Northeast Saskatchewan.
That stated that Consolation Housing has a long-standing history of community support, and this donation further reinforces its commitment to improving quality of life for residents throughout the region
“We are incredibly grateful to Consolation Housing for this remarkable donation,” Taylor said in the release.
“Their generosity demonstrates a deep dedication to the well-being of our community and will have a meaningful, lasting impact on local health care services.”
North Central Health Care Foundation extended its sincere appreciation to Consolation Housing for its generosity and partnership in supporting health care close to home.
