The Melfort Mustangs lost back-to-back games for the first time all season last week after returning from the SJHL/MJHL Showcase break.
The loss to the Flin Flon Bombers tightened the standing in both the Sherwood Division and league.
As of Feb. 3 the Mustangs are in first place in the Sherwood and SJHL with a record of 32-7-0-0 with 64 points, two points ahead of the Bombers in both the division and league.
The La Ronge Ice Wolves are in third place with a record of 17-21-1-2 with 37 points and the Nipawin Hawks are in third place with a record of 8-28-3-2 with 21 points.
The Mustangs dropped back-to-back games for the first time all season with a 4-0 loss to the Bombers in Flin Flon on Saturday, Feb. 1. This followed a 4-0 loss to the Hawks the previous week.
The game was scoreless after the first period and the Bombers led 2-0 after the second period.
Matthew Kieper stopped all 24 shots he faced to record the shutout.
Keefe Gruener had a hat trick for the Bombers and Ryder Ringor added the other Flin Flon goal.
Madden Mulawka made 30 saves for the Mustangs.
Melfort was in Yorkton to play the Terriers on Tuesday, Feb 4 and the Weyburn Red Wings were in Melfort to play the Mustangs on Wednesday, Feb. 5, results were not available for either game.
The Ice Wolves closed their two-game set in Kindersley with a 5-4 shootout win on Sunday, Feb. 2.
The Ice Wolves led 1-0 after the first period and 2-0 after the second period.
Will Christian scored the winner for the Klippers in the three-round shootout.
Hudson Cameron, Ryder Dembo, Connor Frost and Cole Thomas scored for La Ronge in regulation.
Christian had a pair of goals in regulation for Kindersley with Dawson Karol and Stein Dostal adding the other Klippers goals.
Logan Falk made 34 saves for La Ronge; Brett O’Halloran made 28 saves for Kindersley.
The Ice Wolves opened a two-game set in Kindersley with a 4-3 overtime win on Saturday, Feb.1.
Cameron scored the winner for La Ronge 3:20 into the overtime.

Dylan Nazareth, Vinny Di Iulio and David Vitt scored in regulation for La Ronge.
Karol, Christian and Kyler Smith responded for Kindersley in regulation time.

Nipawin closed their home-and-home with the Melville Millionaires with a 3-1 loss in Melville on Sunday, Feb. 2.
The game was scoreless after the first period and second period.
Noah Heinrich scored the lone goal for the Hawks.
Jackson Lee scored a pair for the Millionaires and Gaborik Carlson added the other Melville goal.
Nik Trakakis made 27 saves for the Hawks; Nick Genette made 24 saves for the Millionaires.
