Longtime P.A. powwow dancer pleased to see children continue the tradition
This year’s Northern Lights Casino Thanksgiving Powwow brought together First Nations dancers from across Canada and around North America to compete for the title of best in their age group and dance category.
But to dancer Tricia Albert, the powwow is about more than awards and accolades.
“The contest is a bonus but everything else is just mainly about dancing for your house, your family and for those who can’t dance,” said Albert, who dances in the women’s fancy competition.
“I dance for my grandmother because she’s not doing so well and I keep her in my heart when I’m out there.”
