MLA Report: Prince Albert Northcote

Alana Ross, MLA for Prince Albert Northcote

Across Saskatchewan, people are working hard every day for their families and communities. Your

Saskatchewan Party is doing the same. Our focus remains on supporting that work by continuing to make strategic investments that keep communities strong, opportunities close to home, and programs and

services reliable. This is made possible by the positive momentum building on our provincial economy.

Statistics Canada’s recently released wholesale trade figures show an increase of 15.3 per cent from November 2024 to November 2025, ranking Saskatchewan first among all provinces for year-over-year growth. This signals consumer confidence in our economy. Our government remains focused on ensuring producers can reach the markets they need so that more resources continue to flow within our

economy. For the latest provincial economic updates and more, visit www.saskatchewan.ca.

A strong economy allows us to reinvest in affordability measures. One of the many ways we are doing this is by doubling the Community Rink Affordability Grant to $5,000 per rink, representing an annual investment of more than $3.2 million. Rinks are vital community hubs where people of all ages come together, and this program helps ensure they remain accessible. Last year alone, more than 300 rinks, covering over 500 ice surfaces, benefited from this grant. This marks yet another commitment our government has delivered on. The 2025-26 applications are open and will run until February 27, 2026.

Full guidelines and the online application are available on the SPRA website at www.spra.sk.ca/funding.

As Saskatchewan communities grow, so does the need for modern health infrastructure that supports patients, families and health care professionals. Construction on the new Prince Albert Victoria Hospital continues to move forward. Once complete, it will include a heliport, a larger emergency department, and dedicated areas for pediatric and maternity care. The hospital will also feature a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, advanced medical imaging services, and a First Nations and Métis cultural space. Inpatient capacity will increase by 40 per cent, and the new multi-story tower will include modern, larger

operating rooms. These improvements will ensure quality and accessible care for years to come.

Caring for Saskatchewan people goes beyond health facilities. It also means making everyday travel safer.

Our government, together with SGI, remains committed to making Saskatchewan roads safer for

everyone. Through the $2 million Provincial Traffic Safety Fund, 80 projects across 78 communities will receive grants of up to $100,000. Since the program began in 2019, $16.6 million has been awarded to more than 900 projects across the province. Applications for the next funding round are open until

March 21, 2026. Program details and the full list of approved projects are available at www.sgi.sk.ca/community-grants-programs.

The year ahead will bring new opportunities and challenges, and I remain focused on ensuring every voice is heard while continuing to advocate for our community. I look forward to keeping you informed

as we continue working together for a brighter future. You’re welcome to stop by my constituency office at #7, 598 15th Street East. You can also reach out by calling 306-763-7677 or by sending an email to panorthcote.mla@sasktel.net.
