The Prince Albert Mintos found out first hand just how strong the top team in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League is.
During a road game at the Rod Hamm Memorial Arena Sunday, the Mintos dropped their third straight contest as they came out on the wrong end of a 10-3 affair to the Saskatoon Blazers.
After Gabe Klassen opened the scoring for the visitors early in the opening frame, the Blazers would score five times in a 10-minute span and never looked back.
James Form had a hat trick for the hosts, while Carter Stebbings and Hayden Wilm had two goals and two assists each.
Josh and Cole Nagy each had three point evenings, while Karter Prosofsky and Tristyn Bryks rounded out the scoring.
Prince Albert Raiders prospect Nolan Allan had an assist for the Blazers, who received a 23-save showing from Matthew Pesenti and improved their record to 19-4-1-0.
Klassen had two goals in the loss for the Mintos, who have an 11-9-1-0 mark and are tied with the Beardy’s Blackhawks for fifth in the league standings.
Dawson Springer had the other goal in the setback, which saw Chase Bertholet dish out a pair of helpers.
Carter Woodside got the start for the Mintos but was pulled after giving up five goals on 13 shots in the first period.
Spencer Welke made 24 saves during the final 40 minutes.
The next game for the Mintos won’t be until Tuesday, Dec. 4, when they host the Tisdale Trojans at the Art Hauser Centre.
