
The Prince Albert Mintos had a hot powerplay on Wednesday, but not hot enough to burn the Tisdale Trojans.
The two teams combined for five power play goals on Wednesday, but the Trojans walked away with a 5-2 win.
Eric Han led the way for Tisdale with a pair of power play goals, including the game winner with just over two minutes to play in the second period. Simon Garchinski and Luke Senick had the goals for Prince Albert, with both coming on the power play.
Ramy Borowsky opened the scoring with 1:23 to play in the first period. Tristan Hanson and Carter Geysen drew the assists. Tisdale led 1-0 after 20 minutes.
Pryce Thiessen extended the lead with the first of three Trojan power play goals just past the halfway mark of the second. Cooper Atkinson and Blake Girard drew the assists.
Garchinski got Prince Albert on the board with 5:05 to go in the second. Joshua Henry drew the lone assist.
Han scored his first of the night roughly three minutes later, making it 3-1. Atkinson and Sean Shiels assisted on the goal.
Senick made it 3-2 with a power play goal with 8:32 to play in the third. Connor Howe had the lone assist. That was as close as the Mintos got.
Geysen scored roughly two minutes later, making it 4-2, with assists to Taren Erhardt, and Jackson Dunn. Han added another power play goal with 4:04 to play making it 5-2. Shiels and Girard earned the assists.
Dunn made 29 saves to earn the win for Tisdale, while Joshua Henry responded with 37 stops for Prince Albert.
The Mintos are back on the ice Saturday afternoon to face the Warman Wildcats in their final home game before the Christmas break. The two teams will meet the following day in Warman.
