A youth has been arrested after police received a call about suspicious activity in Melfort.
According to RCMP on Sept. 8 at about 4:22 a.m., the Melfort RCMP received a call from a resident of Melfort because they had caught two youths trying to break into parked vehicles in the residential area on the east side of Melfort.
Police attended to the area and located one of the suspects and arrested them. Police also recovered some stolen property and other items that are suspected of being stolen.
The 16 year old male from Melfort who can not be identified has been charged with numerous criminal charges including breaching conditions that were imposed upon him while other criminal charges were still before the courts.
The male was held in custody and appeared in Melfort Provincial Court on Sept. 8 . The court ordered his detention and his next court appearance will be on Sept. 15. The male has been charged with theft Under $5,000,Possession of Stolen Property, Mischief Under $5,000, Break and Enter and five counts of failing to comply with conditions.
The Melfort RCMP thanked residents for reporting these incidents right away so that police could respond and locate the people responsible.
