Art lovers will have a chance to meet the artist behind mixed-media installation ‘The Circle and the Dot’ at the Mann Art Gallery.
Artist Laura Hosaluk’s work explores ancestry, identity, and cultural memory. She’ll be in Prince Albert on July 10 for the opening reception.
“Using willow, daub, clay, and ceramic firing techniques, Hosaluk constructs evocative sculptural towers and immersive environments that reflect personal memory and shared histories,” reads a statement provided by the Mann Art Gallery.
“Hosaluk invites audiences to reflect on what it means to be Canadian as we work to belong, remember, and move forward—physically and culturally—on Treaty 6 Territory.”
The exhibit was inspired by Hosaluk’s Ukrainian and Scottish roots, specifically the lost Scottish tradition of Skekling and the architecture of early prairie settlers.
The exhibit runs from July 8 to Sept. 27. The opening reception will be held on July 10 at 7 p.m. KSAMB Dance will also perform.
