Police have charged River Blade Storm Linklater with first degree murder in connection with a death in Pelican Narrows.

The charge follows a homicide investigation launched on Tuesday, when a 16 year old turned up in a local health centre with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. He arrived in the early morning hours and was pronounced dead at the centre.

The man was later identified as Mark Clarence Michel of Pelican Narrows.

The RCMP also located a second victim, a 17-year-old woman, and charged Linklater with attempted murder. The woman did not require medical attention, according to police.

According to an RCMP statement, Michel and the woman encountered a group outdoors after leaving a residence in Pelican Narrows. An altercation ensued.

Police identified Linklater as a suspect and arrested him at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

In addition to the murder and attempted murder charges, Linklater, 22, is also facing a charge for participation in a criminal organization. He will appear in court in Sandy Bay on Thursday.
