The Maidstone RCMP are investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred around noon on Aug. 10 at the intersection of Highway 16 and Range Road 3273.
Police said the investigation determined an SUV and a car collided. Police said the driver of the SUV was pronounced dead by EMS on the scene and was identified as a 78-year-old woman from Maidstone. Her family has been notified.
Police said the driver of the car was taken to hospital and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
As police responded to this incident, a second collision happened on Highway 16 between a truck and a motorcycle. Police said the individuals were assessed by EMS and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Highway 16 was closed off but has since been re-opened.
Maidstone RCMP said officers continue to investigate with the help of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
The Saskatchewan RCMP reports that there have been 55 fatal collisions with 68 fatalities on roadways policed by the Saskatchewan RCMP in 2026.
