Loon Lake RCMP seize more than 230 grams of illicit drugs from armed male

The Loon Lake RCMP seized a firearm and illicit drugs from an armed man on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation on Jan. 16.
Officers were called to the First Nation at around 9:40 a.m. following reports of a gunshot sound. They responded immediately, but did not find anyone injured.
Officers saw a man walking in the community while holding a firearm. He discarded the gun when police approached and was arrested without incident.
Officers seized the firearm, which had the barrel sawed off. They also located and seized ammunition, approximately 167 grams of methamphetamine, 67 grams of cocaine, trafficking paraphernalia and cash in the male’s belongings.
As a result of continued investigation, a 32-year-old male from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, unlicensed possession of a loaded prohibited weapon with ammunition, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
He is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on January 19.
