A Prince Albert man was found dead after an apparent hunting accident near Weirdale.
Nipawin RCMP and Parkland Ambulance reported that the incident took place shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday in a rural field about 10 kilometres south of Weirdale.
Through their initial investigation, the RCMP determined that two men from Prince Albert were hunting separately in the same area. They did not know each other. Police reported that a firearm was discharged.
They found a 23-year-old man dead with an apparent gunshot wound. The other man, 22 year old, reported the incident to police and remained on scene.
Parkland ambulance referred to the death as a “hunting incident.” RCMP reported that they do not consider the death to be suspicious. They continue to investigate, in partnership with the coroner’s office, and are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
