Local insurance broker Rose Freeman has been recognized as one of the top insurance brokers in Canada.
Freeman was named Insurance Broker of the Year (Regional- Prairies and Maritimes), and was one of three finalists for the Canadian Insurance Broker of the Year at the 2025 Insurance Business Canada Awards (IBCAs). The awards were handed out in Toronto on Nov. 13.
“It’s an incredible honour, particularly being the first broker from Saskatchewan to win this award at the national level in Toronto,” said Freeman.
Freeman is the Founder and CEO of Willow Insurance Corp., which has offices in Debden and Shell Lake. When making the announcement, the IBC said she displayed “exceptional client growth, innovative business strategy, and inspiring leadership in education, branding, and technology.”
Freeman said her colleagues played a big role in her success. She said they are very accommodating and supportive, and ready to assist whenever she calls on them.
“We are very fortunate in the Saskatchewan Insurance industry where everybody is incredibly helpful,” she said.
The award ceremony was put together by Insurance Business Canada and recognizes outstanding brokers, brokerages, insurers, underwriters, MGAs and risk managers for their achievement, leadership and innovation over the past year.
Freeman had some words of appreciation for the organizers.
“They put up a phenomenal evening where everything, from the food to the networking, was perfect,” she said.
Out of about 43,000 Brokers in Canada involved, Freeman stood out especially, as earlier in the year she was listed as one of the top 20 Brokers based on customer service.
Correction: a previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Freeman won the Canadian Insurance Broker of the Year award. The Daily Herald apologizes for the error.
