A wonderful – fantastic – experience, even if it was a little scary.
Dear Editor,
Thursday, October 30th Fay and I were invited to an elementary school dance. Considering our senior ages, that might have been the reason for it to be a little scary, but the scary part was the costumes worn by the students – vampires, witches, skeletons, zombies, full sized dinosaurs, Ninja warriors using martial arts moves. But, there were really cute ones as well – a hot dog, a penguin, a wee little bumblebee, babies in costumes carried by mothers or fathers also in costume, little princesses. And there were some really unique ones – a hidden someone in costume kidnapping and carrying a boy, Einstein in a lab coat with unruly hair.
Teachers, also in costume, roamed the halls and the gym where the dance was held.
It was something to behold; it was a community together; it was everyone having the time of their lives; it was Vincent Massey Public School alive and having fun, fun, fun!
The students ranged from kindergarten to grade eight – each one accompanied by a parent or adult family member.
The dance in the gym featured large circles of boys and girls bopping along to the music provided over loudspeakers, all of them laughing, chatting, and simply enjoying themselves.
We, Fay and I, were having fun just watching all the action, We were super impressed with the sense of school community on display, students, parents, family members.
It truly was impressive.
Vincent Massey Public School – you should be really proud of your Halloween Party!
