La Ronge RCMP officers seized one kilogram of cocaine and made four arrests following a traffic stop in the northern community of Air Ronge on Sunday, Feb. 2.
Officers with the La Ronge Crime Reduction Team (CRT) stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Far Reserve Road and Mikisiw Drive at around 1 a.m. Police say the driver’s licence had been suspended, and a male passenger was wanted on an active warrant.
Officers arrested the man and seized a small amount of cocaine. They also arrested the driver and two other passengers, then began the search the vehicle. During the search, police say the officers discovered roughly one kilogram of cocaine, a handgun, a baton, and additional drug trafficking paraphernalia.
Keannu Starnyski, 19, of Sucker River, Katelyn Charles, 27, of Stanley Mission, Freda Charles, 24, of La Ronge, and Gary Roberts, 32, of Sucker River face six charges each as a result of the investigation: possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, unsafe storage of firearms, possession of a firearm when knowing possession was unauthorized, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition and without license ore registration, and possession of a firearm with the serial number removed.
Starnyski and Roberts also face charges unrelated to the incident.
All four individuals made their first court appearance on Monday, Feb. 3.
