Prince Albert Board of Police Commissioners appointed Insp. Jonathan Bergen as the new Acting Chief of Police on Friday, July 6.

Bergen is replacing former acting chief Jeff Rowden. Rowden retired from the force, ward 7 councillor Dennis Nowoselsky confirmed.

The board also announced Insp. Jason Stonechild was named Acting Deputy Chief of Police.

“I think both inspectors fit the bill and it gives them time to prove themselves,” said Nowoselsky.

The board’s search for a permanent Chief of Police remains ongoing, as finding someone willing to come to Prince Albert has proven difficult, Nowoselsky said. Internal candidates have also applied for the job.
