St. Mary glee club to collaborate with U of S choir at weekend concert

St. Mary High School music teacher Kayleigh Skomorowski said it’s important for secondary school music programs to give students an understanding of where they can go next.

That’s why, when the opportunity arose for her glee club students to share a stage with the University of Saskatchewan’s Greystone Singers choir, she was quick to make it happen.

“The director of the Greystones, who our glee club has worked with before in past festivals, emailed me and said that the choir was going to North Battleford and that they’d kind of like to make a bit of a tour of it and so she wanted to know if we would want to host them in a concert here in P.A.,” Skomorowski recalled.

“The Greystones are the pinnacle of choir music in the province. So even to have them for a concert in Prince Albert is a huge opportunity, let alone to have my students perform alongside them and get that kind of exposure to that level of choir music.”
