Deputy Chief Farica Prince continues her work with the Prince Albert Police Service as the Service has announced a three-year contract extension, effective Friday.

The contract continuation will see Prince remain in her duties as a member of the Service’s Executive Leadership Team, providing leadership and oversight in support of the organization, its members, and the community.

“I’m really proud to work alongside the incredible people here at the Prince Albert Police Service,” Prince said. “When I arrived in the fall of 2021, I really didn’t know what to expect, but I was ready to get to work. And as an organization, we certainly have been through a lot. But in 2026, I really do feel like we’re stronger than ever.”

As for her choice in extending her contract, she described the moment as, “an easy decision.”

“Collectively with the Chief of Police and the Board of Police Commissioners, we just felt like it was best for me to stay. But it was an easy decision for me personally because I absolutely love living in Prince Albert and functioning in this community,” said Prince.

Prince added that, “policing is not linear.”

“We’re never going to be done or finished at an end goal line. Our commitment and service to the community is forever growing and changing, and we’ll be responsive to that. We strive to always do better and that’s reflective in the dedication of our members and the work that they do every single day,” she said.

Prince said the police service continues their dedication to serving the needs of the community, through examining and observing local feedback.

“It’s difficult for us to capture how we are doing in growing our community connections. It’s hard to capture how we’re doing in public trust, public confidence, growing relationships, creating a culture of care that openly promotes inclusion,” she said. “But we do so through documenting and reviewing the initiatives. What we spend our time on and what we spend our time on shows what is important to the community.”

In 2024, the police service launched a new strategic plan, highlighting new priorities.

“We have been really focused on listening to the community, listening to our organization, we’ve been focused on improving public safety, and we’ve been focused on celebrating culture,” she said. “Our fourth pillar has been general leadership. Cultivating increased morale within the [service], making sure people know that their administration cares about them. We’re committed to learning and growing and doing better.”

Prince said that throughout the next three years, she and the organization will remain committed to continuous growth and learning.

“I’d like the Prince Albert community, in general, to know that they have a police service full of people who are dedicated to serving this community,” said Prince. “We’re going to continue to evaluate our practices, always look for ways to do better, and we’re going to be responsive to the needs and wants of the community, and to other considerations like legislation.”

In a statement, Prince Albert Police Service Chief Patrick Nogier, said, “Deputy Chief Prince continues to play an important role within our leadership team. Her experience and leadership contribute to the stability and continuity of the Service, and I look forward to continuing our journey to modernize and enhance the police service.”

The Prince Albert Police Service congratulate Deputy Chief Farica Prince on her contract extension and look forward to her continued service to the organization and the communities it serves.

“I have fallen absolutely and completely in love with Prince Albert and Northern Saskatchewan. The people, the lifestyle, this organization, my colleagues I get to serve alongside with,” Prince said. “I absolutely love Prince Albert and I’m super proud to call Prince Albert home and super proud to work alongside the incredible people here at the Prince Albert Police Service.”
