Inmate death reported at Saskatchewan Penitentiary

On Mar. 11, Jason McKay, an inmate from the Saskatchewan Penitentiary, died while in the custody of Saskatchewan Penitentiary, a Press Release made available by the Penitentiary stated.
At the time of death, the inmate was 54 years old and had been serving a life sentence, which commenced on Feb. 24, 2026.
The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.
The Release also added that as it is the rule in all cases involving the death of an inmate, the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances. And CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
