HUMBOLDT — The Horizon School Division board has approved the 2026-27 academic calendar, maintaining a structure similar to previous years while confirming key instructional and administrative dates.
The calendar was approved during the board’s meeting on Feb. 25, 2026, according to Jesse Green, communications officer for the division. The complete school calendar can be found on the Horizon School Division website.
The first day of classes for students will be Sept. 2, 2026. Horizon’s daily instructional time will remain at 325 minutes, consistent with recent school years.
The calendar also confirms the timing for final report cards. Report card pickup will take place on the last Tuesday in June, allowing teachers additional time to complete final grading and assessments before issuing students’ final progress reports according to Green.
Several non-instructional days are built into the calendar to support staff development and planning requirements under the Local Implementation and Negotiation Committee (LINC) agreement.
These include four non-instructional days dedicated to staff development and curriculum planning. The schedule also includes one day for the Horizon Teachers’ Association convention.
Additional administrative days include two collaborative learning days, one day for Learning Improvement Plan development, five personal professional days and one annual staff celebration day.
