Incumbent board chair Barry Hollick was re-acclaimed as board chair at the Saskatchewan Rivers School Division board of education’s regular organizational meeting on Monday evening.
Along with re-acclaiming Hollick the board selected rural trustee Darlene Rowden as the vice-chair for the 2020-2021 school year.
The organizational meeting preceded the first meeting of the board following the trustee election on Nov. 9.

“It is a privilege to work as Vice-Chair with this group of trustees who are so committed to strong governance and to overcoming challenges to provide excellence for our students,” Rowden said.
Both expressed appreciation for the confidence the trustees placed in them and committed themselves to working for the best interests of SRSD students.
Director of education Robert Bratvold was happy to see Hollick return as chair for another year. The chair and vice-chair are a mix of both the rural and urban trustees in the division,
“It’s an exciting thing to have the organizational meeting, we have them every year and every year there is a chance of change but it is also nice to have some stability there. Barry has been a great chair and the trustees recognize that and do so with their continued support,” Bratvold said.
Bratvold explained that outgoing vice chair Jaimie Smith-Windsor did some great work and that Rowden will continue to do some excellent work.
