As the Christmas break approaches the Nipawin Hawks are still in second place in the UPL Division of the SJHL.
As of Dec. 15 the Hawks are in second place in the UPL Division with a record of 17-9-1-0 with 35 points, four points behind the Flin Flon Bombers.
The Melfort Mustangs are in third place with a record of 10-13-1-2 with 23 points and the La Ronge Ice Wolves are in fourth place with a record of 6-17-2-1 with 15 points.
The Ice Wolves were idle this week after a game was postponed.
Nipawin closed their two-game set in Kindersley against the Klippers with a 5-2 win on Sunday, Dec. 14.
The Hawks led 1-0 after the first period and 3-2 after the second period.
Konnor Watson, Tiernan Ryan, Will Whitter, Braeden Joakims and Jaxen Smith scored for Nipawin.
Avery Johnson and Etha Sautner responded for the Klippers.
Gage Roberts made 43 saves for the Hawks; Brett O’Halloran made 24 saves for Kindersley.

The Broncos led 1-0 after the first period and the Mustangs led 2-1 after the second period.
Logan Peskett and Zayden Sadlemyer scored for Melfort in regulation.

The Mustangs game scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 9 in Air Ronge against the Ice Wolves was postponed due to ice issues, a makeup date has not been announced.
The Melville Millionaires were in Melfort to face the Mustangs on Wednesday, Dec. 18, results were not available.
The Hawks and Mustangs play their first home-and-home of the season this weekend, the Hawks are in Melfort on Friday, Dec. 19 and the Mustangs are in Nipawin on Saturday, Dec. 20.
The Ice Wolves and Bombers also face off in a home-and-home this weekend. The teams meet in Air Ronge on Friday, Dec. 19 and in Flin Flon on Saturday, Dec. 20.
