Growing like a willow

Submitted photo. Rose Freeman is the owner of Willow Insurance.

Rose Freeman is the sole owner of Willow Insurance Corp. who has been described by industry-leaders as “a small business owner making a big impact”.

Rose finished 2024 with “accelerated action” celebrating her 11th year in business. She purchased an existing insurance brokerage in Shell Lake in 2013. From an unlikely move from corporate finance, once she opened Willow Insurance, it was all up! Rose expanded the business to a second location in Debden in 2017 and doubled her premium-written book of business in just four years – a growth that typically takes ten years to achieve.

Rose’s leadership focus on teamwork and community involvement was a key factor in the business owner being approached by the Make- A- Wish Foundation in the spring of 2023 to be an ambassador for their inaugural Women For Wishes campaign. The campaign consists of 100 inspiring women from across Canada, 20 of which are from Saskatchewan. Since becoming an ambassador, Rose has raised more than $21,000, all of which stays in Saskatchewan.

Apart from her successful charitable endeavors, she has excelled in a professional capacity on the National stage. Since 2022, Rose has been recognized with numerous prestigious awards. Insurance Business Canada recognized her as an Elite Woman; an achievement given to only 48 Canadians, and just 2 Saskatchewan women, who have broken glass ceilings and who are role models for younger generations of girls. From 2022-2024, was also recognized by the same organization as a finalist for the Cansure Award for Broker of the Year; an award for innovation and exemplary client service.

Rose was published in the Global Best In Insurance Special Report celebrating outstanding insurance companies and professionals in Asia, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the United States.

Finally in 2024, Rose was celebrated as one of fifty Top Insurance Brokers for client care.

Rose believes in sharing her story as an example of resilience. She was honored to speak at the 2023 SGI CANADA national convention as the Saskatchewan Delegate on this topic. Above all Rose champions women to have the power to live and lead with kindness within themselves, their families and their communities.
