Getting results with KidsFirst

Prince Albert Carlton MLA Joe Hargrave said he’s encouraged by the results KidsFirst is having in the community, but can’t guarantee an increase in funding for the program.

Hargrave visited King George Public School in Prince Albert on Friday to meet with families involved in the program, which has existed for more than a dozen years. He said it’s incredible what they’ve accomplished in that time.

“You come here and you can see first hand why it’s so important,” he said. “I met with a family and a mother and son who had graduated through the program, and you can see the difference it has made.”

Although he praised the program, Hargrave said he couldn’t guarantee an increase in funding. The provincial government will provide $1.2 million of the program’s budget for 2016-17, the same amount they provided in 2015-16, but it’s not sure if there will be more.
