Brenda Lee Cottrell was raised in a musical household.

Her father sang and played accordion in the local Saturday night dance band while her mother was always playing records by ‘60s singers like Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.

“Growing up there was always music in my childhood home,” Cottrell said, adding that she gravitated towards the music of that era from a young age.

“It’s just pure music. It reflects maybe a more innocent time in the music industry where it was about heartache and love and joy and the melodies were simple but yet they definitely touched the heart and the lyrics were honest and the performances were very classy.”
