As they have for many years, Gordon Denny Community School (GDCS) began getting ready for the holiday season with the Annual Tree Decorating evening on Thursday, Nov. 14.
As the first snow of the season fell, the GDCS’ halls and classrooms filled with excited children and their families.
Each classroom chose a particular decoration and all the makings for the treasure were ready and waiting for the eager people to create their decoration.
As the evening wore on, staff members circulated with boxes to pick up the creations and ferry them to the tree, which at the beginning of the evening, was adorned with lights.
Other adults were at the tree ready to find a place for all the creations.
There was also a spot for decorations not quite ready for the tree.
The evening ended with the tree filled with beautiful decorations and cups of hot chocolate to give some warmth as people went back into the snowy cold to return home.
The Tree will remain in its spot throughout the days filled with holiday concerts, celebrations and maybe even host a few gifts until the holiday break begins.
