Firefighters extinguish pair of tree fires over long weekend

The Prince Albert Fire Department dealt with two unusual circumstances over the Canada Day long weekend.

According to the Prince Albert Fire Department / PA Alert Facebook page, two separate tree-related instances occurred on Monday, July 1st approximately two hours apart from each other.

The Prince Albert Fire Department responded to a call for a tree fire at 4:30 PM on the 2100 block of 1st Avenue West. Responders quickly extinguished the flames coming from a hole in the tree, although the cause is unknown.

The second situation occurred at 6:20 PM on the 1700 Block of 13th Street West. According to the post, a power line was seen touching a tree causing smoke and burnt branches. SaskPower was called to trim the trees surrounding the power line and the incident was terminated.

Thanks to the Prince Albert Police Department, no harm was done to any properties surrounding these tree-related instances.
