Fire bans in place in RMs of Buckland & P.A.; city north of the river, including Little Red River Park

The City of Prince Albert has declared a fire ban for Little Red River Park and all residential property north of the river.

The ban was enacted because of dry conditions in the area. It is effective immediately. Open fires and fireworks are prohibited until further notice. Properly maintained fuel gas appliances are still permitted.

Cooking fires in designated fireplaces such as in Kinsmen Park, as well as recreational use of approved fire pits within the city south of the river, are not affected by the ban.

The ban will remain in place as long as high-risk conditions remain.

Fire bans are also in place in the Rural Municipalities of Buckland and Prince Albert. Those orders apply to open fires and fireworks. It also means a suspension of burning permits.

All fire bans are in place until further notice.

The province’s fire risk map shows high-to-extreme risk in the region and that risk is forecasted to get worse tomorrow.
