Canadian Wrestling’s Elite (CWE) are returning to Prince Albert and Plaza 88 on Sunday, Aug. 2.
The featured performer is the final WWE Million Dollar Champion Trevor Lee (formerly known as Cameron Grimes in WWE).
Lee is on his first tour with CWE and said that the experience has been excellent.
“It’s really hard to find something like this,” Lee said. “A tour like this is very rare. Most independent companies, especially in the States, will run one show every month or one show every couple months. For them to have this kind of schedule planned out and to be able to execute it like this, it’s pretty amazing to see.”
Lee said it is impressive how CWE can return to the same places but space out the shows in such a way that the towns still look forward to them.
“They have it mapped out perfect where they can hit all these towns and everybody’s excited to see them when they come.”
Lee, born Trevor Lee Caddell, was born into professional wrestling and started his training with former WWE and current TNA Tag Team Champions the Hardy Boys in their independent promotion Omega Championship Wrestling.
“My father was a professional wrestler,” Lee explained. “He helped start Omega Championship Wrestling with Matt Hardy in Cameron, North Carolina. That was in the early ’90s, so I was just kind of born into the business. Watching the Hardy boys grow up in your front yard is very inspirational for a young mind. It kind of helped pick my career path right away.
“I started at 14 years old and now here I am at 32, still doing it, having a good time,” he added.
After his training, Lee began working for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) an independent company based in California. PWG was a home to talent like Kevin Owens (then Kevin Steen), Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano and The Young Bucks.
“It was just such a special place that housed so many of your top name stars that you can see on any channel that has wrestling right now,” Lee said. “Whether it’s WWE, whether it’s AEW, all these guys wrestled in (PWG). To be able to have that opportunity and to be able to get to wrestle there was just so special to me.
“That was kind of like the slingshot moment that launched me forward into my career and being able to start to travel the world and make it to TNA wrestling, make it to WWE. It all started at that company,” Lee said.
During his run in TNA Wrestling, Lee had the chance to work with former Omega performer Hurricane Helms in the Helms Dynasty stable.
“He’s always been a family friend of ours being from the same area, being from Omega,” Lee said. “It was really cool to be able to get to kind of start my career in TNA with him on my side.”
During his time in TNA, Lee was a three-time X-Division Champion and one time TNA Tag Team Champion. Lee then moved to NXT and changed his name to Cameron Grimes
He was an NXT North American Champion but said the most prestigious title he held was as the final Million Dollar Champion. The Million Dollar Championship was created for the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase and was held by Stone Cold Steve Austin.
“This championship was kind of stored away,” Lee said. “It was kind of put in the vault. No one had thought about kind of bringing it back out and then. due to lucky circumstances in NXT, I was able to kind of revitalize that Million Dollar Championship. It led to current LA Knight being a champion as well. That’s who I ended up beating to become the final Million Dollar champion. I got to kind of give it back to Ted and retire it once again.”
Lee signed with Major League Wrestling (MLW) in 2026. MLW has been around for around 30 years.
After signing, Lee became their inaugural Southern Crown Champion. MLW also has a show on YouTube at 6:05 p.m. each Saturday.
“It’s easy to check out,” Lee said. “We have a few episodes out now. You can go back and check those out or you can follow along. It’s fun being back at MLW and being able to showcase that talent.”
Lee will meet Danny Diggler in a Special Attraction Match when the CWE arrives in Prince Albert.
In a CWE Championship Match, CWE Champion “The Crazy MoFo” CAM!!ikaze faces Former CWE Champion “Chizzled” Chad Daniels. In a CWE Central Canadian Champion “Crude Oil” Cody Mac faces “The Headline” Shaun Martens.
Lee said that what CWE does as a promotion is great.
“It’s great because in WWE and TNA you don’t really get to meet your fanbase,” he explained. “You don’t really get to meet that consumer. You get to do the show and they get to see you at the show, but they have to pay a lot extra to be able to meet you.
“In these shows here when we get to come to these small little towns, you get to meet us one-on-one, you get to shake our hand, you get to have a conversation with us. I think that’s a lot of the beauty that comes with this type of tour or this type of promotion, and this small local company that is holding on and running strong, you got to appreciate that. You got to support that as much as you can.”
The Meet and Greet is at 6 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and bell time is 7 p.m. at Plaza 88.
