With a new album in the works, singer Jeffery Straker heads to Prince Albert

Jeffery Straker has a problem: He has written too many songs.

“It’s a good problem to have,” the Saskatchewan singer/songwriter said by phone during a break from recording in Toronto.

“I think if you’re out there living life, you’re going to get ideas and then you try to put them into songs.”

For the past year and a half, Straker has been touring in support of his 2015 album, North Star Falling. But whenever he had a moment to himself, Straker would get to work on a follow-up. Now, with the recording process underway, Straker has 35 songs to whittle down to 10 as he prepares his latest release.
