Police have advised drivers to avoid using Highway 3 west of Prince Albert after a serious multi-vehicle collision on Monday.

Prince Albert RCMP issued a media update at around 6:45 p.m. saying traffic would be rerouted for an undetermined amount of time. They said ice formation and blowing snow over the roadway were creating extremely poor road conditions.

Police officers, firefighters and emergency medical services attended the scene.

UPDATE: Paramedics from Parkland Ambulance cared for a three-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman with injuries, transporting them to Victoria Hospital in good and stable condition. They were both injured in a collision roughly 5 km west of Prince Albert on Highway 3. The incident occurred at around 5:32 p.m.

Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
