There were three deaths due to COVID-19 reported by the province on Saturday.
One death was reported in the North Central zone, which includes Prince Albert and was in the 50 to 59 age group.
The two other deaths were in the 80-year-old and over age group and were from the Saskatoon and Regina zones and
The number of deaths in the province has now grown to 158.
There were also 485 cases reported in the province over the past two days. On New Year’s Day there were 275 new cases and there were 210 new cases reported today.
There were 27 cases with pending information added to the North Central zone.
The North Central zone, which includes Prince Albert, reported 68 new cases.
Nine cases with pending residence information, previously reported, have been found to be out-of-province residents and were removed from the counts.
North Central 2, which is Prince Albert, has 297 active cases.
North Central 1, which includes communities such as Christopher Lake, Candle Lake and Meath Park, has 107 active cases and North Central 3 has 71 active cases.
The North Central zone is third in the Active Case Breakdown with 475 active cases.
There are currently 160 people in hospital overall in the province. Of the 127 reported as receiving in patient care there are 30 in North Central. Of the 33 people reported as being in intensive care there are three in North Central.
The current seven-day average is 176, or 14.5 cases per 100,000 population.
Of the 15,845 reported COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan, 2,712 are considered active.
The recovered number now sits at 12,975 after 485 more recoveries were reported over the last two days.
The total numbers of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 15,845 of those 3,900 cases are from the north area (1,460 north west, 1,916 north central and 524 north east)
As of Jan. 2, 3,722 doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine have been provided to health care workers in Regina as part of the initial pilot and in Saskatoon as part of Phase 1. With the arrival of 4,900 doses of Moderna vaccine, the Far North Central and Far North West regions will start vaccinating priority populations beginning next week. As of today there have been 432,054 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan.
Over 100 active COVID-199 cases in youth in North Central
On Thursday the province released the updated numbers on COVID-19 cases in youth. The total active cases in youth provincially in all locations are 877, 12 have no known location and 865 have a location reported.
Currently in the North Central zone, which includes Prince Albert, there are 107 active cases in youth. Last week there were 283 tests performed across the North Central zone.
North Central 2, which is Prince Albert, has 53 active cases in youth. North Central 1, which includes communities such as Christopher Lake, Candle Lake and Meath Park, has 39 active cases and North Central 3 has 31 active cases.
Cumulative tests performed since Sept. 7 in the North Central zone is 4,090.
Provincially there is a 8.n8 per cent test positivity rate in youth.
The province releases the update on the numbers each Thursday.
There were 2,732 tests performed in total in the province in the last week.
The cumulative number of tests performed since Sept. 7 is 55,167.
