The Prince Albert and District Chamber of Commerce has announced plans to host a debate for the upcoming Rural Municipality of Prince Albert byelection.

The debate is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on June 4 at the John M. Cuelenaere Public Library, and will allow voters to ask questions directly of the candidates seeking to become the RM’s next reeve.

“We are excited to hold the debate for this byelection,” chamber CEO Elise Hildebrandt said in a media release. “It is vital that voters have as many opportunities as possible to learn about the candidates in this election prior to making their choice.”

There are three declared candidates in the election: Doug Phelps, Paul Rybka and Eric Schmalz. The election is scheduled for June 12, with an advanced poll open on June 8.
