Canada Post has added six communities to the list of those whose residents are eligible for free mail forwarding service due to the northern wildfires.

Effective June 11, residents in Air Ronge, Canoe Narrows, Denare Beach, Deschambault Lake, La Ronge, and Timber Bay are eligible for up to 12 months of free mail forwarding service. Impacted residents have until July 11 to register for the service. The impacted postal codes are S0J 3G0, S0J 0B3, S0M 0K0, S0P 0B0, S0P 0A2, S0P 0C0, S0J 1L0, S0J 0G7, and S0J 2T0.

Canada Post said in a press release they can ship mail to a different address selected by the customer on either a short-term or long-term basis, even if the address is temporary.

Residents in Creighton, Pelican Narrows, Sandy Bay, Southend, and Weyakwin became eligibly for the offer on June 5 and must register before July 5.

Residents will need either a credit card or government-issued ID to authenticate their identity. Residents who purchased a mail forwarding service prior to June 5 can call Customer Service to request a refund if they have been impacted by the wildfires.

Mail for residents in Air Ronge, La Ronge, and Timber Bay can also be picked up at the Prince Albert Post Office on Marquis Road West between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday.
